An Angel Brings a Baby
This week's spoonful comes from Nurturing Your Baby's Soul: A Spiritual Guide For Expectant Parents. The author of this particular excerpt is anonymous.
I had a difficult time with my first pregnancy due to emotional strains and physical problems. This caused me to feel insecure. And even during the period after my baby was born, things did not go smoothly. So when I contemplated having a second child, many of these insecurities welled up in me. I felt unworthy to be a mother to a special child. Nevertheless, I felt I was supposed to have more children, so I decided to write a letter to God about my desire to be the mother of a special child. Then one day I was meditating in a quiet setting, and I had a very precious and unexpected experience. In my meditation, I was sitting in a church in front of a beautiful altar. There was a door to the right of the altar. It opened and an angel came through the door, holding a baby. With the greatest care, love and gentleness pouring into this baby, the angel walked over and placed the baby in my arms. The baby was dressed in a beautiful white christening dress.
I found out one week later that I was pregnant.
Erratum
Thanks to a kind reader for pointing out that last week's quote actually comes from Marianne Williamson's book A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles and not Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech, as is frequently misunderstood. My apologies for not verifying this information before sending it to you.
